OUR CAUSE: WE Support and Volunteer for the Parkinson's Society

by Cheryl Bateman

We all tend to donate and support a cause that is close to home. My mom was diagnosed with Parkinson's many years ago and has had to make many concessions as a result of this degenerative neurological disease. It affects 1 out of 500 Canadians and there is no cure. A disease doesn't define a person, but it does have a big impact on their life and that of all their loved ones, especially their spouse. My mom is my hero, (even before Parkinson's), but  I see her strength, courage and resilience on a whole new level.
